Mold heat treatment is an important means to improve the hardness performance of steel materials, generally carried out after rough machining of the mold.
1) There is serious network carbide segregation in the mold material.
2) There are machining or cold plastic stresses in the mold.
3) Improper operation of mold heat treatment leads to (heating or cooling too fast, improper selection of quenching cooling medium, cooling temperature too low, cooling time too long, etc.).
4) The mold has a complex shape, uneven thickness, sharp corners, and thin threaded holes, resulting in excessive residual thermal stress and structural stress.
5) The heating temperature during the quenching process of plastic molds is too high, causing overheating or burning.
6) The mold is not tempered in time after quenching or the tempering holding time is insufficient.
7) During the repair quenching of the mold, it is reheated and quenched without intermediate annealing.
8) The grinding process of mold heat treatment is improper.
9) After mold heat treatment, during electrical discharge machining, there are high tensile stresses and micro-cracks in the hardened layer.
